In 2009, Joel Loblaw teamed up with noted architect Will Hudson (cofounder of Post Architects) to create the Gateway Project. Combining slatted 2 x 4s and internal light, the strong architectural design creates a sense of fragmented wonderment. Two long benches (with nearby stumps as chairs) lead guests into the structure, where they discover a sapling – planted within a series of intricately woven branches and surrounded by complementary grasses.
