We’re always looking for intriguing ways to use disparate materials that somehow blend seamlessly into a memorable creation. Such was the case in our Forest Hill project, where we built a tiered deck using cedar planks and Corten steel walls. A contemporary storage shed, also of cedar, anchored one end of the deck while select plantings framed the rest. To provide a striking counterpoint – and to complement the outdoor furniture – we painted the fence black. The final result was a backyard area that was both dramatic and functional.
